Hey guys.

Debating whether or not to go ahead with the WUG, just one point I would like to clear up first. Is it possible to share internet access via the WUG? Have a node setup at one location with an uncapped adsl account, and connect from 2-4 other locations via the WUG and access that adsl account to browse the web, download email etc.

Thanks in advance.

PS. Is this equipment sufficient, was quoted by Maxload; 5.4GHz 27dBi Grid antenna- split grid, Mikrotik RB-Groove 5 GHz L3

I would just like to post this topic to find out if there are rules of conduct when it comes to the behavior of game server admins/host.

If not, I think there should be a set of rules implemented and should be followed by the hosts in order to have their server allowed.

Reason I mention this is, for a second time I have been kicked and subsequently banned from the modern warfare 3 server ( razor server ), without warning or any reasoning what so ever. The first time it happened I found out it was because I was not on teamspeak.

Last i checked, teamspeak was not a prerequisite to be able to enjoy a game. Additionally if it is a requirement, then should one not have a headset, then the person responsible for implementing the rule should then buy one for them. I have no need for headphones and a mic. I do not use skype or any necessary form of such communications and therefore find no logical reason to spend money and buy one.

If the games played were of competition level where talk of strategy is required then so be it, but these servers are purely for fun and if anyone wants to play at competition level, then by all means go do so on public online servers.

If you want to kick/ban someone, have the decency to warn them first before doing so with a valid reason so that the accused can at least defend themselves ( if they are indeed falsely accused ) instead of cowardly hiding behind your console and doing as you please.

Those who abuse their right as a host and unfairly ban people should have their game port blocked at the nearest highsite and furthermore, by-passing this block by any means should result having their link permanently disabled. We all join the games for some fun and to be wrongfully banned is unbecoming of the CTWUG code of conduct and method statement.

Hi guys,

Anyone out there that is quite good on software tuning a link that can help us? I tried scratching but I recon I have more luck breaking stuff than getting it working correctly.

I basically run 3 links from my side(cervantes-upthecreek, cervantes-lionelzone, cervantes-skouperd), and the skouperd one has been down for the past month or two now.

The Skouperd link was modified a bit, one of the other links were split apparently. Seems like our link is affected by that as ccq's are now way down on not on ospf levels. We both tried turning our grids so seems like conflicts somewhere.

Would be greatly appreciated if someone can have a look at it for us. just let me know, pm or via irc, and ill create access on the RB's and give you the ips concerned.

Was thinking of creating a website where people can post their game server IP/port on the WUG and people with a IE link can offer to port to that server.
This would allow connections during non gaming times and people outside the WUG to join as well.
Can also create a visual map/route between the server and IE portal to determine if viable during non gaming times, how many hops, etc.

Game -- > server IP:port --> IE dyndns/IP links.

Hi there

I have just installed a p2p link at my workplace (Using the Mikrotik Groove) - this link is only 16mb/s

Due to our location its impossible to use a WISP last mile solution as the surrounding buildings have a no-antennae on the roof policy, and LOS is not possible without a hop.

With this being said, the remote office has Neotel fibre outside and I wanted to investigate piping the fibre line over a wireless link to the main office. (We are situated on a historic square and so cannot dig up the road to lay fibre)

The building's BC will also not allow me to run an additional cable for a second, faster wireless link between the buildings, so my only solution is to use the existing cable and split it to run gigabit and 2 wireless devices. (Meaning that power becomes the problem as it is powered by PoE 30-40m away)

I did some research and found this - http://www.veracityglobal.com/media/...ual%201_2a.pdf

Basically it is a PoE Forwarding Switch - exactly what I need, but I am unsure how it would be setup/if there would be enough power.

Secondly, speed is a very critical part of this connection, any recommendations on some kit that is quick where aesthetics are very important.

Apologies for the long post.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
