Anyone know who has stock of these in Cape Town at the moment?

I bought the last one at Zentek and they're not expecting stock for another month.

I priced the wrt54g at Zentek and it was close to R900 for it. I am waiting for details regarding wrt54g/antenna pricing for the jawug kit so hold on.

uniterm have stock of the wrt54g, their details are under the hardware link on the left. If you know of any other WIFI hardware dealer add a comment with their details.

No uniterm does not pay me for pimping them but they have the best prices, just a pity they are out in durbanville!!!

Is linksys better than Senao? Miro has a Senao WSR3018 54Mbps for R655 and a Senao SL3054AP3+ for R714. Are they good?

You can flash the linksys with linux

i was at zentek yesterday and the price has dropped to R750 inc vat. The wrt54g can be flashed with a firmware based on linux, there is not enough space to load a full version of linux.

I found it difficult to get one in Cape Town. I found a supplier but have lost the details, and you could not get direct from them. I eventually ordered from pcmall.co.za and was pretty impressed with their service. Here is their linkssy 802.11g page:

I've tried most of the firmwares available for it and am using Freeman 1.0.4 now. I just wasn't technically competent enough to use OpenWRT beyond the basic functions...

pcmall only sells the version 5 wrt54g, BEWARE version 5, make sure of the version before you buy

the easiest way to check, if it has the centrino certified sticker on the box, then it is not version 5.

Try Scoop Distribution across from Miro in the business park. They sell the Linksys and a whole range of wireless equipment. And Linksys is far better then Senoa. 8)

I don't have the box nearby but I think it did have the centrino logo. I bought it quite a while ago... As far as I know mines a version 2. Was there ever a version 4 because I never heard of one...?
