having a interface with address of (example1) 192.168.0.1/24 that interface will belong to the network 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.0.255. (example2) 192.168.0.1/32 then the interface wil belong to network 192.168.0.1 and only broadcast on 192.168.0.1. I know there's a easier way of explaining it but my mind is somewhere else at the moment. hope u have an idea what i'm trying to say. if not: what r u trying to achieve with the network?

i want to hook up a group of ppl but they are spread out, some in durbanville some in tygervalley and some in parow so thru some contacts i'm paying for highsite space to put this up but i'm still learning to do all of this and some of the finer details elude me still. if there's anybody how can help me to setup the system it would be very much appreciated

so it works something like this... ... correct?
/24 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.255
/25 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.127
/26 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.63
/27 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.31
/28 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.15
/29 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.7
/30 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.3
/31 *.*.*.0 - *.*.*.1

so now how would you configure the antennas ip's for the clients and for the links inbetween the wrap boards

Eben
11-01-2006, 16:40
that depends again, do the clients connect to the same radio that's linking u to ur next wrap

Eben

can u perhaps see one of the wugs aps? if so i can let u have a look at the configuration to give u an idee how to set it up

Eben

there's a whole lot of factors that does come into play when setting up an ip network like: equal cost multipath routing, load balancing, policy routing ect.

What are the ctwug ssid's and i''ll send you a scan, my ssid on 2.4G is OCP2 but i doubt if you will pick up the 5G's as they are on a very narrow beam. i am useing a router PC connected to an antenna (5G 31dbi Grid), on my second highsite i have two wrapboards the first has the complimentery 5G 31dbi Grid and a 2.4G horizontal Sector for the clients then the second wrapboard has a 5G 24dbi Grid connecting to the third highsite where there is a wrapboard with the complimentery 5G 24dbi Grid and a 2.4G Horizontal Sector for the clients

our ssid's would be something like ctwug-**-**. do u plan to give ur clients specific ip blocks say for instance: Bob and his network that connects to the sector have the range 192.168.1.0 - 254 and Paul and his network that's also connecting to the sector with ip range 192.168.2.0 -255 or how do u plan on giving ur customers ip's?

andrefourie
12-01-2006, 10:03
yes lets bob has ip address 192.168.111.5/30 and john has 192.168.111.10/30 thats how it will be anything else

Eben
12-01-2006, 10:15
okay so what u need to do then is give the radio with the sector an address of say 192.168.111.254/24 which will be the gateway for the clients connecting to it and the radio that's connecting the wrap's say 10.*.*.1/24 and on the next site u could use say 192.168.112.5/30 for Jannie and 192.168.112.10/30 for Sannie and the radio connecting to the next site 10.*.*.2/24 ect.
