Hey is it possible on the Rb433 to connect to multiple ssid's at once, with one wireless card and a 21db omni directional antenna. for example. pluto, jupi and master yoda all on one wireless card, and maybe broadcast to?

no, its not
1 card 1 connection as a client

K cool was just thinking that it would help meshing the netwrok. and maybe take some load off the highsites that are over populated. Would be cool though. Just one question more though is it due to hardware or software that its not possible?

ist possible but we dont support its, there are lots of reasons

Ja, sure......but where?

I would luv a 21db omni.....didnt know they existed

Nope i haven't bought one,i was considering it if i could connect to more than 1 highsite with it. i mean think of the interneshng. They do exist, they are about 1.5k for a dlink one from pinical. Thanks stolla, was just thinking to help reduce load on a few sits as i can get pretty good signal on a few and would have been a cheaper option with meshing to more sites possible.

It might be a 12dbi one? 12dbi is about a meter long, 6 dbi about 30cm and 9dbi about 60, do the math, going on like that the omni would be about 2-3 meters long :P

Edit: Unless it's 5.8Ghz

I think its a 5.8Ghz, but i'll find out my and i'll try get the link.

cool, thanks.

I am just curious to see if it is a proper 21db, and what the beam width would be.

I have one that said it was an omni, but it seems to be a 2x155deg antenna...nice idea, like have 2 sectors back to back, running on one radio.....but it is still not a true omni.

I f I had the money, I would replase all your freakin omni's with sectors and use the omni's to arrange my burning fire wood.

it is way to expensive....

1 omni + 1 radio + 1 LMR ...VS...3 sectors + 3 radios + 3 LMR's

What would a radio ham do without an Omni?

Radio Hams have there own spectrum, wuggers share spectrum with thousands.

Lol good point Nos but my argument is 1 omni, +1 radio + 1 lmr, connects to 5 highsites, where i'd need 5 sectors, 5 radio's and 5 lmr's. for the same type of connectivity on sectors.

I have rechecked the 21db omni though, it costs around R1500 at Pinical, it's not on the site yet, I think it should b on the newest pricelist though.

If you try to connect 2 HS's together with a omni you will be making the WUG a lot slower for everyone... never mind 5 HS's

You will have 5 "links" that can do a max of about 2MB to each HS, what's the use of that.... compaired to 10mb to 20mb for a normal link between hs's

or do you think you will be able to connect to 5 HS's at 54mb/54mb to each with one Omni? Dream on...

Manie, it doent work like that.

nOs, leave them...let them spend the money, waste the time and learn the HARD way. in the end they will go the Grid/sector way.

Yup, ek stem. Maar, dis maklik om 'n omni op jou dak te sit en kyk of iemand connect. Eendag as daar so 3 of 4 mense op is kan jy met hulle praat dan club almal in en koop sectors of grids. (of panels, ek like panels).

Maar om dag 1 3 sektors en als uit jou eie gatsak te koop is bietjie rof.

My idee van 'n omni is om te "seed". Kry mense opgelink. Dan verbeter jy die links en skuif die omni na 'n nuwe "seed" area.

Net my 2c :D

Hey guys, sorry didn't mean to ruffle feathers lol. Just tried to think of a way to help the wug :-) But thanks for pointing out why it wont work. Would have been nice if it was that easy though :-X

You will need one antenna + radio per conection to a AP/HS AP.

So you will need 5 antennas + 5 radios for 5 connections to a AP/HS AP.

P.S. did you see i did not mention a omni, connect with directional equipment to a specific point and if you want to broadcast, broadcast only in the directions needed.
