Bellville/Sanlam area node

Hi there. Im thinking bout setting up a node for ppl to connect to an share files and play games. From where i stay in antoon benning building i can see most of bill bezuidenhout up to almost tvalley. If it wasn't for the sanlam and sanbel building i prbly could have seen all the way up to welgelegen but oh well.

From the couple of times that i've done a scan of the area i noticed a couple of ap's

i would assume that the "broker" ap's might be in the sanlam centre! try get some net through it!

If you can see the Bellville Uitsig Church, you would see Solar's ap

Sorry don't know churches names. is it the pointy one next to bellville high? or the one at lower bellville near midmar?

When you drive up Bill Bezuidenhout coming from Sanlam, you go over the N1 then the 2nd robot right, the church by the circle on your left, that's Bellville Uitsig.

aah k. I'll check tonight if i can see the spire but i'm not holding my thumbs that much. I basically stay at the end of bill bezuidenhout, right next to good ol sanlam :)

XCalibre what do i need to connect to your setup? I just want to share an play games with the ppl at the mo so ............what's ure ssid and how do i connect? :)

Cool. Really interested. Im gonna see by my building what the procedure is to get approval for an antenna on the roof. Knowing these kinds of boards its gonna be long, ardous, anal retentive and blood frustrating but will try i shall that i will.
Baah i'll have to get a new antenna an ap cause ol one just went bye bye.......Don't ask.

Will try the linksys and have to decide on which antenna still prbly gonna go patch since i want it to kinda blend into my buiding

I was thinking of getting my DSL connection up and running again with the all but useless Helkom (bunch of wankers). But was speaking to a clan member of mine that stays in the Milnerton area and put me onto you guys this sounds like heaps of fun and file shareing on an eppic scale, this i think would definatily be the root to go.

All I need is some more info on equipment and locations of beacons or what ever you call them to join your network. I stay in Wilger Park on the border of Old Oak and Brackenfell just before the R300 bridge.

Is there connection in this area. and to answre |ee3d I will deffinatily be interested.

Could you tell me what the grid size is - how many people and can we connect with Milnertons grid yet or is that a work in progress. if you guys would like to chat pls call me on msn brent_chat@hotmail.com is my addy would like to here and get info from you guys this addy is only on at work time as no connection as of yet.

there's still alot of work to be done and the major thing at this point is getting decent high site and some more equipment but Old Oak is def. in the pipeline, hopefully before the holidays
