Atlas Node Information

Dear Wuggers of the Atlas Node,

As most of you probably have heard I will be shutting down the Atlas node permanently this coming weekend (specifically on 26th July 2009). Unfortunately due to my landlord’s selling the house I am currently renting and for personal reasons my family and I are moving out.

Before everyone panics we do have a plan to keep all of you connected to Ctwug. There have been plans to mount a new Highsite to cover this area, Kraaifontein and parts of Durbanville. This new Highsite will strategically be called Afroman. At this point in time Afroman HS will not be up in time before Atlas goes down. As a temporary solution Nemesis will connect directly to the Kingpin Highsite and the existing Wuggers that is connected onto the Atlas node will connect onto Nemesis. If any of you do have LOS and a stable connection to the Kingpin Highsite it is recommended that you connect directly onto the Kingpin Highsite.

I would just like to thank the following team for their time and effect into getting all of this organized and completed:

I will be updating this thread with the relevant information needed to helping all of you getting connected to Ctwug again.

Hi guys..

Currently we are planning to sort out the Afroman/Nemesis and Kingpin site on Saturday 27-06-09.

Kingpin site needs to get staywires and Koeiklap and Blergh has given us staywires for that, so thank you guys. This needs to be done to ensure that all the BB links at kingpin runs stable. We will also need to align the BB grid properly.

We also need a few guys to help out at the Afroman site. We will need to replace the current aluminium pole there, which got slightly bent in the wind of this week. I will try and source a 6 m steel pole tomorrow and order it to be delivered to the site. So help there needed please. Current equipment will thus be needed to be transferred to the new pole. Should be easy enough. That site will also need to get staywires. That must still be sourced.

If we struggle with linking the site to Kingpin then we will link Afroman to Nemesis and run the BB from there to Kingpin for now. We will also need hands there.

So if yo have spare time on Saturday then it will be appreciated if you can come help. If all goes well then we all can still watch the rugby later that day.

I will be shutting down the Atlas Node at 14:00 today :( I am going to start dismantling my set up. Thanks to all that was a part of this connection, it was awesome! This is where I started with the wug and it's sad to think that now I have to move :( Hopefully I'll get connected again. Cheers!
