View Full Version : Just a HI! (and a CTWUG-Platt question)

Hi,

I have been kind of lurking around here and from what I can gather I should be able to see CTWUG-PLATT from where I live in Monte Vista ( Close to the corner of the road that comes down from Panorama Mediclinic/Tygerberg Tech and the road that comes over the bridge from N1City/Mweb). So, basically I have a clear line of sight to tygerberg hill in the area of the Tech/Dros Shopping Center.

So I guess my question is- where is CTWUG-Platt located - so I can get on the roof with some binoculars and see if I can spot it ?

Any help will be much appreciated ! :)

hi, ctwug-platt is situated two blocks from the 'dros' as u go up the hills. its relitively small so i don't think u'll be able to see it with ur binoculars. u really should not have a problem getting great signal from where u r

Thanks very much for the info. I took a 2/3 km stroll up there but could not find the antenna ( just some mean looking yagi's) so I took a bearing from the World International Estate agency building and with the binoculars I could see my home from there with no visible obstructions.

So theoretically I should be fine, I guess we will have to see what happens in practice :) I prefer to build my own antenna's and it looks like a quad bow-tie is the most likely the one that I wil make.

ish i cant believe u did not see the sector its about 1.2 meters tall and raised another meter or so with the mast, maybe david camouflaged it since he was the last person up there, its hard to believe that in the beginning i was up there for at least an hour everyday for weeks and weeks trying to sort out problems and now i havent even pass there for a couple of months now

Okay .. Okay ... I was looking for an Omni .... Which would give wider coverage( radiation angle) but I guess at less gain.

Yes - I have camoflaged it as a large 1.2m sector on a house. Beware lest I haul out the picture of a man with a palm tree for his left arm holding up a sector...
