Is 3.6GHz frequency open for use in SA

I see in the wikipedia article on WiFI that USA are allowed to use 3.6GHZ. Is this frequency available in SA ? It would be grand if we could get a few more channels.

Seeing as no one answered, I'll give my unresearched answer: no, it's not open.

Generally speaking, all the US frequency allocations differ to ours. Even their 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz allocations differ slightly. It looks like 3.6 GHz there isn't license exempt either, it's just relatively easy to get a license.

ICASA do publish a band plan for ZA on their web site, but it's hard to find and probably poorly maintained. You can try contact them too...
