Coop 1: port 11301
Coop 2: port 11302
Versus : port 11303 (need 2 or more players - need to be tested still)

Servers default to normal difficulty but voting system works to change it easily.

http://l4d2.vines.ctwug.za.net - for all info about the server, setup, tip & trick, weapons and live player stats! Also include server status to see what session are active/full.

Will list all the mods and their descriptions soon - they are not a definite, if players find they don't like a mod it gets the boot.

Still more work to be done on it!

awesome - I built the dedi latest 2.0.9.3

Have all the incremental updates if you need - server will only be on during testing times though, its a 1u so a bit noisey - will be hosted elsewhere once sure its all good.

So tonight 9PM - need 3 people :) - before I go any further with mods we need to test the server preferably for a full campaign with 4 players.

After successful (hopefully) test I'll look into mods for changing game type.

Finally 4 people on at the end. Didn't see any of the lock ups I had before so either I'll blame faulty not rebuilding his sound cache or its the extra caching mod I installed. Will dig through esx tomorrow to see how the usage was to see how much we can actually run on the box.

Added some stuff to the website including a calendar to schedule when you can play to make sure 4 people. If interest pics up I'll definitely add another fork as the server is only hitting 25% with full load.

Hay tried to access the webpage via the URL link on the Wiki it failed but when I put the IP in my browser the web page loaded this was at 09:31 :)
Also having some issuse posting a event in non gaming time will try again in gaming time

For the few of you playing and any that potentially plan on I need a vote/opinion on a plugin.

With this however I would probably set the default difficulty to Hard (which can be changed now via vote system if you are still getting beat down by zombies).

I also need to try get 2 more players we can call on to get two Coop games running at the same time to bench the server. We currently have 5 that can easily be reached and 1 coming back from or already back from holiday.

Vote system in the menu working perfectly, no more stupid typing.
press escape to get to menu - click the call a vote option and off you go. Also MUCH easier to change campaigns this way.

Tomorrow will bring a list of mods for you guys to vote on - or I can just do them, you play and give feedback :P

Just added a bucket load of plugins, not sure how they will behave, thats what testing is for, I can't with pings at the moment.
plugins are all still stock settings, need much tweaking still.

EDIT: Going to add an extra Co-op fork tomorrow at work due to the potential number of players - will shift ports so 11301 an 11302 are coop and 11303 is vs(which still needs testing). Will assess past that if we need to add more and if the server can handle more. If there is more interest then that there is a second server waiting.

Going to remove direct download links for files tomorrow night, port 80 isn't capped during gaming hours so its killing the server with people downloading the client (people downloading is great, slow down not so much). The site does mention alternate methods to get the files. I'll keep latest patches only from tomorrow onwards.

Have activated the second coop in case of more then 4 people wanting to play.
Have added a server status page to the website to list sessions up/down as well as number of players.

Great to see new names registered in the stats page!

Added a comments section to the bottom of the home page where you can post any issues or suggestions.
EDIT: Also added players names online in server status page + special infected spawned (side effect as bots and specials are considered players).

Awesome test on versus server tonight!

Removed automatic campaign switcher in favour of Force Mission Changer to fix versus bug.

People need to make sure they make a shortcut and change the +clientport option to 11300.

ok, hopefully tomorrow the intermittent latency between kingpin and skouperd won't be an issue. I have given up tonight on increasing the number of players for versus, its breaking the coop games. I will try separate coop and versus so I can load separate plugins but for now versus stays 8 players. If we have lots of interest I can get rid of coop2 for another versus instead.

I will be away next 2 days so need feedback.

I think there is something wrong with the point system before i went offline this morning i was ranked 6 the moment i went offline and had a look at the leader boad it shows i have -318 can you have a look at it please?
Can you at least explain to us how the point system works like i know when all team mates die 350 is taken off bat for what ls is points being deducted

Sup guys,

If the coop forks are being used I won't get rid of them, server has only really been live for 3 or 4 days now so I don't know what people want, it was just a suggestion :)

As to the points, you lose a large amount of points for dying, team fire etc.
e.g. if you fail an end stage 4 times in a row its something like 800 or 1000 points total deducted. I can disable point loss if the general consensus is to get rid of them, the stat scores are default as they were coded by the creator, they can be tweaked :)

I'll be back in cpt soon so we can discuss then, get a group of all players on TS or something and we can decide, server is for you guys so whatever the majority wants I'll do :)

I had problems on server 11302. Was laggy, but not a network lag. Was getting 50 latency. When I played on server 11301 it played fine.

I know drakcore, sadly not my link where the problem is - I don't think they have gaming scripts running there or there is some other issue, I know graphire took a look but not much more could be done.
The issue is (as pointed out by your trace) at the kingpin to skouperd link.

If anyone can make any suggestions or knows who to politely nudge to get this link sorted out it would be appreciated.

I want to play so bad but after hours work is KILLING me at the moment, was hoping to be done and dusted end jan but looks like I got a week or 2 more of it to deal with (plus I'm going to get kakked out by boss soon if I don't do a few modules of my studies) but I definitely going to try make some time soon, haven't played any games close on 2 months now :S

Tournament ideas. Maybe start sam clans with members of 4. vs mode tourney with a point system, team that wins get a point. Other idea, see which team can finish the map the fastest on hardest or hard?

@Refugees - seems I have bad luck with that link although the actual server has been up since I did the update. seems to have been up recently no issues, I do a quick check most nights. Next time you are going to get on try browse to the web frontend (l4d2.vines.ctwug.za.net) and go to server status. If you can't get the website do a tracert. If its an issue actually running the connect command giving some form of error please send it to me so I can troubleshoot, would love to see some more zombie deaths.

@sarge - 4 vs is good, timing is the only challenge with getting people all on at the same time :) and the speed run idea could be cool, I'll need to check how to measure it though as I don't think the full credit run finishes (will make time to test) which shows how long a chapter took. I will see if there is any other ways to check this (maybe netgraph has some extra details).

When you install standalone patch at the end it should offer you the option (standalone should be Gaming extreme / Gani not SFK)

Any l4d2 game on 2night? We should make games on the days the masses can play. Suggestions on Wednesday night or Thursday nights etc. 1 hr away from the wife, after wards you can still make her happy as well....
