I'd appreciate your advice on choice of kit for sending minimum 1Mbit/s, preferably about 5Mbit/s, reliably a distance of 6.7Km.
In the UK we have a max EIRP of 100mW (what about ZA?) so I will need a very sensitive receiver and an adjustable transmit power.
You seem to favour WRT54GL but are there more sensitive devices? I calculate that I'd need something like 19 to 24dB antennae.

There is so much noise on 2.4 I really suggest going 5.8 if you can afford it and you need a reliable link. In that case 2 routerboards with cm9's should do the job. Is this private or for a company?

Thanks savagedavid - It's private - to get broadband to an ADSL black spot. It's rural so interference is likely to be low. 5.8 is interesting - higher 'air' losses, smaller dishes but lower receiver gains.
What about limiting transmit power with CM9?
Is the Routerboard really a 'plug in and go' device?
Phil

Sorry PhilBrady
Routerboard is very much not plug and play. It requires some skill and knowledge to get operational. However once it is operational it will kick pretty much any other wireless unit's butt.
