Hi all
It is with sadness i inform you that i have lost the battle with my body corp and that Inm0 will be taken down Thursday evening :(
There has been chat about the other members taking over, but it doesnt look good so far.

We need a HS in Muizenberg to cover the clients that Andy had and so Andy can himself connect again without needing such a tall pole. Perhaps someone on the wug knows someone who lives right below Boyes Drive on the mountain above Muizenberg/Lakeside...

thats sad man....will this affect any other links or nodes....for instance pmurgs and those guys?.....maybe if u can list who might be wugless because of this the other southern suburbs boys can accomodate them?

AndyCap, just a thought that you might have tried already... Can you not approach you neighbour to the south and ask them if the pole can be mounted on their side of the wall? That way you can remain connected while your neighbour gains a free connection.
Failing that we could try and host your pole at TheDon and then setup some "invisible" gear to link you guys up.

We have been talking and the link that is running from IO to Andycap can still be used that way. We are considering either Baldrick or Wyndry. Baldrick will need some donations to assist to be able to help other people as he was just a client of Andycap and do not currently have the equipment to link other people. He is close to Andy though.
We need some input here. What do you guys think we should do with this link?
Sectional titles suck. Was the decision to make you take down the equipment a full quorum or only a trustee decision?
Reason I ask is that I used to be a trustee on a body corporate a while back and know quite a bit about how things are done.

I am willing to TEMPORARILY take over the link to IO but on the condition that we all get together to find a way to get Andycap back online ASAP. I will even host the servers he has at my house if he wants to keep them online , but for a limited time and on the condition we find a way to get Andycap back on the WUG.
I do not however have an internet connection at home so cannot take over any Internet functions unless other arrangements are made for the short term.
Andycap has helped me a great deal in terms of understanding how the WUG works etc. and we need to find a way for him to get back online ASAP.

Andy , I am sorry to hear the bad news, I like to thank you for the good service you gave CTWUG. I also hope that you can re-gain your wug in the near future.

I would say that linking IO to either Balldrick, Prometheus or King02 is a good bet (And in that order).
If everybody is willing then Balldrick can take over AndyCap's rig exactly as is and donations must be used to cover the costs so that AndyCap isn't out of pocket. Hopefully AndyCap would then be able to connect to DarkFall using a SXT and then everything is back to normal.
If that's not going to work then I have to agree with pmurgs. We will need to find somebody who lives just bellow Boyes Drive in order to facilitate coverage over that area.
I am not sure if i was in AP mode with the Andylink, but i will have a look at it tonight. If the link is down already, I will place it in AP mode to allow people to scan for it.
Let me know if i should adjust the link more to the left or right.
Btw, this was not a horizontal link, so I might have to go and turn the grid if there is issues scanning for it.
Actually, another possibility is to link in to Mitchells Plain. BigMike is planning to link in there from Helderberg I believe, I am linked in there to Warlock072 and there is the Adrastea/NemesisMu link (to stellenbosch) going in there which I think is still being worked on.
Prometheus and King already have links via mercury and then moonfruit into northern suburbs. Mitchells plain because it is so flat, needs links coming in that have height on their side.
i would say the options would be Balldrick and Wyndry.....
NyvenZA....dont you mean it wasnt a vertical link, becaus it is a Horizontal link.
I am in station, so you would be AP....freg is super channel, 5400, "nv2 nstreme 802.11", nstreme enabled.
If it goes to Baldrick and the guys can help him with moola, it is just a case of taking the same rb and radio, and turning the IO grid to the right a few degs.....but should still be able to pick it up on a scan....if he goes with the extra 52hn and grid he could do the link to one of the other guys as well.
If it goes to wyndry, then at least the pinelands area has a link again.

Sorry, you are right about the Horizontal. :)
I am linked to Goofy and then from there to Mercury, so that link seems ok atm.
We have been trying to get Nicky connected to a friend of mine that will be connecting to me too. (this is still int he pipeline)
Since I am in AP mode, it would be best if Baldrick can just turn his kit, point it to IO and try and scan on Freq 5400 to see if he sees IO. Then we can connect him up using his current equipment. Then we take it from there.

As pmurgs says, we're actively working on the link to SFW/nemesisMU (from the Helderberg area), and it would be a big boost to the area if we could have a second link into the WUG - at the moment we're 30 nodes or more (and growing rapidly), sharing a single link to Mercury. A connection to IO from Mitchells Plain would bring a lot to both the NS and the SS!

Andycap is now sadly WUGless, but some of us would like to see if we can keep Inm0 running. Andycap is willing to donate the download and upload servers to us along with the automated upload torrent tools, but we will require at least 6 additional members to be able to finance the cost of the uncapped line and newsfeed subscription. Like pmurgs and bigmikedavis says, Mitchells Plain has a good few eager guys willing to get stuck in and assist in anyway possible. with Ariel and Mimas on the cards as well, planned connections to Mitchells Plain, why not let one of us host it... We are so to speak in the middle!

Just want to correct myself! Mitchells Plain is very very interested in the IO link, SS and DS (Deep South ;) and not to mention Mitchells Plain itself could really use another link to the North. Please pretty please consider us less fortunate peeps this side!
As for the bot, what about sharing the upload script with the guys with uncapped lines and then just split the series up in the meantime so as to not affect those tv junkies too much

What’s happened with the scans from Balldrick (or anyone else) to IO?
Can we please also arrange for WIND to get updated with proper information? It’s really difficult trying to plan anything when the information you’re looking at is false/outdated.
